Late goal help Inter scrape win after embarressing performence against relegation Zone Genoa #10

Inter Milan 1 Genoa 0FT

San Siro, Milan

After getting a draw vs Bologna last week Inter would travel back home where they would face relegation favorites Genoa. The last time Inter faced Genoa back in Feburary Inter would lose to them 2-1. Genoa would be the underdogs in this match has they currently sit 18th in the league with a record of 0-2-4. They would look to get their first victory against third place Inter Milan. Inter would open their season with a so far easy schedule where they have won 4 out of their first 5 opening matches and the only draw would come last week vs Bologna after they would drop points for the first time this season. Inter would look to get back on track with a victory against Genoa. In the first half both teams would hold each other at a stand still as both teams would finish 0-0 at the half. In the second one of these teams would try to break the deadlock. Before the match would end Inter would break the tie as top defender D’Ambrosio would score a stellar goal. This would give Inter another victory of the season.

This week Inter would stick with the 4-2-3-1 formation which has been successfulso far but we would have some player and position changes from last week. In goal would be top our top keeper Handanovic. On defense we would have Dalbert replacing Nagamoto, Miranda, Skriner and top defender D’Ambrosio. Up front we would have Brozovic would replace would replace Velero has he would move to the right so Vecino could move to the attacking midfeild. In the midfeild would be Persic, Then Vecino would replace Mario and caping them off would be one other than Candereva. Up top would be the Inter scoring beast Mauro Icardi. This looks like a solid squad but we shall see once the action starts. But they do need to look out for Pellegri as he’s been a threat to teams this season.
After the players took their positions on the pitch this match would get underway. Inter would look to score early with a goal opportunity in the first minute with a goal from Persic as he would right footed shot from the center of the box but it would go just over the crossbar. In the fourth minute Persic would try and strike again with another right foot shot from the left side of the box but would miss. In 43rd minute Taarabt would get a chance to break this scoreless matchup with a right foot shot from outside of the box but would be saved by Handanovic. In the 45th minute Inter would get one last chance to get a score for one of these teams with a goal attempt from Brozovic with a left foot shot from outside of the box but would hit the right post. This would conclude a scoreless first half with both teams holding each other to a standstill. In the next half hopefully one of these clubs would put themselves on the board and come away with the much needed 3 points.

The late goal saves Inter from a overall embarrassing performance and dropping points for the second time this season.
This match was both good and embarrassing at the same time. It was good in the sense we got another 3 points and we’re still the top three in the table and we’re doing well so far. But it is an embarrassment that we’re getting goals late in matches to save us from losing points and it proves we still have a few things to work on to maintain a consistent performance both against weak squads but the strong ones as well like Juventus and Napoli. Like we’re doing a great job creating goal opportunities but we still have a hard time following through on them. So we need to be able to read plays better so we can actually execute goals better. On defense we’re doing well but once we face stronger clubs they need to become more cohesive and stronger so we can keep the ball away from our own goal as teams like Juventus in the past has cut through the defense like butter. Which in turn can lead to them scoring goals and beating us. But we’re doing well so far but once we face stronger clubs is where the real challenge will begin. But next we face bottom of the table Benevento away. As always FORZA INTER.
