Score: Udinese 3 Inter Milan 1FT
Hoping to keep their undefeated run alive Inter would welcome visitors 13th place Udinese. Inter would be coming off a less than stellar performance has they drew vs Juventus who now moved into second position in the league table this week. Udinese would come off of a win vs bottom feeders Benevento. Inter would look to keep their undefeated run in tact while Udinese would look to move up in the league standings. In the past Inter have beaten Udinese in five of their last six matches. Things Inter need to focus on when playing Udinese keeping them from getting goal opportunities and keeping their counter attacks in check. They also need to keep an eye on their aggressive playing style which can attract foul scenarios. Also they need to make sure they don’t get strong possession of the ball. The first half would come with Inter dominating in the possession game and creating many scoring chances. The first goal however would come from Udinese when Lasagna would take the early lead. But Inter would even things up when Icardi would put themselves on the board moments later. Inter would continue opening chances but couldn’t capitalize on them and the half would end with both teams at 1-1. In the second half Udinese would heat up their attack on Inter by opening more goal opportunities of their own this half and would get two goals and would take a two point advantage over Inter. The goals would come from De Paul and Barak. Inter would try and comeback and even things up but they struggled to do so. As a result Udinese would stop Inter’s undefeated run has they would top them 3-1 has they hand Inter their first loss of the campaign.
Inter would stick with Spalletti’s favorite formation the 4-2-3-1 style lineup. Also they would stick with the same players and positions from the previous week. In the goal would be starter and second in clean sheets Handanovic who would get his eighth clean sheet last week vs Juventus. On defense would be left back Santon who has 41 appearances for Inter and who has been starting the past three matches in place of Nagatomo. Next would be left center Miranda who has recently been named captain for his national team Brazil. Right center would be taken by former Sampdoria player Skriniar and on right back key starter D’Ambrosio. On defensive mid would be Valero who would get his second start in this position after being on attacking center mid field since late October and next to him Vecino who has one goal and one assist in all Serie A competition. On the attacking mid field left winger Perisic who has four goals this season for Inter. On center would be Brozovic who has one goal and one assist for the campaign. On right wing Candreva who has four assist for Inter. Up top the Inter scoring beast Inter striker Icardi who is lead in in goals in Serie A. This is a strong lineup who can create goal chances and take a hold of the possession and can keep the ball away from Udinese but Udinese are hungry and will do anything to stop Inter and their undefeated run.
The players would take their spots and this match would get underway. Udinese would look to get first blood as Barak would take a left foot shot from outside the box goes over the crossbar. Minutes later Candreva takes a header from the center of the box is saved in the top of the goal with Perisic providing a cross assist. A minute later Persic takes a left footed shot from the center of the box is close but goes just slightly to the right of the goal with an assist by Icardi. In the 14th minute Udinese would break the deadlock with a goal from Lasanga taking a left footed shot from a very close range to the center of the goal. This would put Udinese up 1-0. However Inter would capitalize a minute later with a goal of their own in the 15th minute Icardi takes a right footed shot from the center of the box to the lower right corner of the goal after a cross by Candreva. This would bring things back on even terms with both teams tied at 1-1 a piece A few minutes later Inter would look to add to their lead has Candreva would take a right footed shot from outside the box is just high after a corner. So far Inter have been dominating the half in both scoring chances and possession. After the 25th minute Perisic takes a right footed shot from the center of the box is blocked after a cross from Candreva. Near the thirty minute mark Perisic does a left footed shot from outside the box is blocked after an assist from Santon. Moments later Valero takes a right footed shot from the right of the box is saved in the center of the goal. Can one of these teams break the deadlock in what is so far a Inter dominating match? With ten minutes to play in the half Candreva would look to add to Inter’s score with a right footed shot from outside the box is blocked assisted from fellow player Brozovic. Near the 40 minute mark Icardi takes a header from the center of the box is saved in the lower left corner this comes from a cross by D’Ambrosio. Before the half would end Candreva would have one last chance to put Inter back on top with a right foot shot from outside the box is saved in the center of the goal after an assist from Icardi. The half would end with both teams at 1-1. If Inter could continue opening goal chances and keeping the pressure on Udinese they could be looking at their 13th win of the season. Or will Udinese pull through and stop Inter’s undefeated run in its tracks?

A picture that caps off Inter Milan’s dreadful afternoon as Udinese Out class them in Inter’s backyard
This match was the wake up call Inter needed to make them realize how inconsistent they can be. Even though they dominated the possession game and scoring chances they still struggle capitalizing on opportunities. That and they struggle under pressure when they lose the lead in a match which makes them more prone to making mistakes and costing them the lead. Going forward Inter better not let this loss mess with them like they usually do which is very costly in the title chance. Also they need to focus on defending better because even if their attack is good but are not defending well they’re letting the opposition by and allowing them to make more chances on their own net which was the case as in the second half Udinese were able to take more chances on the goal. Last off they need to shake this loss of and focus on the match ahead. The man of the match is Candreva who was the lead assister of the match for Inter by passing the ball to whoever had the best goal opportunity and getting it their with fitness and fluidity. Next week Inter travel to MAPEI Stadium to take on 15th place Sassuolo. The last time these two met Sassuolo beat Inter 2-1. Sassuolo have beaten Inter in five of their last six matches. In this match based on previous history with these two clubs Sassuolo could easily win especially at home but Inter will not let history repeat itself and will do anything to secure an away victory and try to get back on track in this very close title race. As always FORZA INTER.
