Inter Milan 0 Parma 1
Inter Milan 0 Parma 1
After the international break Serie A action returns as Inter Milan takes on promoted Parma. Parma as had a three year absence from Serie A after being relegated in the 2014-15 season due to bankruptcy. Parma look to do what is ever needed to stay in Serie A so they can avoid another relegation. Parma gave problems in their last match against one of the strongest clubs in this league Juventus in a 2-1 loss but they didn’t go down without a fight. Parma are showing that they can attack the ball well with using their speed and agility. They also have great ball control and do a great job pushing the ball forward into their opponents half of the pitch. However they struggle defensively in certain areas. They are very weak at defending down the wings and set piece situations. Which they will need to keep an eye on if they have hopes of taking points away from Inter. Also they foul in critical areas which will also cause Parma if they’re not careful. On the other hand Inter are coming off a 3-0 win against Bologna which gave them their first win of the season after a shaky start with a loss to Sassuolo and draw against Torino. Inter are looking to get some winning mentality going so they can take that momentum into the Champions League this week. Inter do a phenomenal job on the attack as they do a great job controlling the ball in their opponents half and creating chances through individual skill though that creates errors some of the time. They need to work on defending through balls and against stronger players. Also they need to do a better job at protecting the lead if they get one. This match Inter look better on paper but Parma should not be taken lightly. Inter can easily win this match but at worse case scenario they’ll get a draw. In the first half Inter dominated Parma in defense and scoring chances but only to hold each other to a standstill. In the second half Parma would heat up and take more chances despite Inter dominating in scoring chances Parma would sneak one past Handanovic as Parma win the match 1-0.
This week Inter stick with the 4-2-3-1 formation. In goal is none other than keeper Handanovic. On defense on right back is Dalbert who is still a vital piece to Inter defense despite getting limited playing time these days. Next to him is Milan Skriniar who as become a crucial element after signing for the club in 2017. Next to him is former Lazio defender Devrij and capping them off is top defender D’Ambrosio. On defensive mid is the dynamic duo of Brozovic and Gagliardini. On the attacking side of things is right winger and secondary goal scorer who helped Inter in their first win of the season Perisic. In the center who got his first goal of the season last week for the club is the ninja Radja Nainggolan who as been doing a great job creating chances when he plays and helping on assist. On the left is Candreva despite having issues among fans because of inconsistent performances sealed the deal in the Inter’s first win Candreva. Up top is Balde who is getting his second start of the season and who as yet to get a rhythm going hopefully that changes and fast.. This is a solid lineup who is capable of winning but that all depends on if the good Inter show up. They do have one player they need to keep an eye out on is Parma’s Gervinho who is good at creating chances and stealing the ball away from opponents he can cause Inter problems if they cannot contain him.
On a Saturday afternoon in the heart of Milan this match gets underway. Inter early on looked to draw first blood as Candreva almost ten minutes in connects a right footed shot from outside the box is saved in the lower right corner of the goal. A minute later Brozovic takes a right footed shot of his own but his attempt is saved in the center of the goal. After a assist from Gaudio Parma get their first chance of the match as Inglese connects a left footed shot is saved in the center of the goal by Handanovic. So far Inter had done a great job defending the ball and not letting Parma get room to create chances and get any momentum going. Perisic near he fifteen minute mark takes a left footed shot but his attempt is blocked. Shortly after Perisic again looks to score this time with a right footed shot but his attempt misses as the ball goes over the crossbar. So far the Perisic as been stellar this match as he’s been creating chance after chance despite not finishing them. Two minutes near the twenty minute mark after a cross by Balde Perisic misses a header from the center of the box misses to the left. Minutes later Brozovic after a assist from Radja takes a right footed attempt but his attempt goes just to high. Inter are totally dominating the attacking aspect of this match and they’re doing a great job holding back Parma in their half of the pitch. Balde after the thirty minute mark takes a left footed attempt from the center of the box is saved in the center of the goal. Minutes later Radja looks to get his second goal for the club with a left footed shot but it would be saved in the center of the goal. Balde a minute later tries a header from the center of the box misses to the left. After a assist from Brozovic Radja takes a header from outside the box but his attempt misses to the left. Brozovic with five minutes left in this Inter dominating half takes a left footed shot but his shot is blocked. With one minute left Inter would have one final chance to give themselves the lead as Gagliardini takes a header from the center of the box is saved in the center of the goal. This would end the first half if Inter can continue to play like this in the second half and capitalize on a few of their scoring chances they may win this match.
After the break this match resumes but before any action takes place Inter substitute Icardi for Balde to hopefully get things going for the club. Inter just like the first half would try and get things off on the right foot with Dalbert taking a cross setting up Gagliardini with a header from the center of the box misses to the right. Minutes later Parma get their first chance of the half with Stulac with a right footed shot is saved in the top of the goal. Gagliardini would take a right footed shot a minute later misses over the crossbar. Dalbert sets up a long range shot but it misses to the left. Inter just like the first half are dominating in both possession and creating chances. It maybe possible one of these may get in the goal. Near the sixty minute mark Radja’s right footed shot attempt is blocked and with a rebound Perisic takes a left footed shot from a difficult position on the left is blocked. Inter are doing a great job holding Parma to stale mate. One minute before the sixty minute mark Inter substitute Politano for Candreva. Gagliardini after the subbing misses a left footed shot from the center of the box after it goes over the crossbar. With nineteen minutes left to play Inter make their final subbing as Asaomah replaces a injured D’Ambrosio to an apparent knee injury. Radja minutes later takes a right footed shot from outside the box is saved in the center of the goal. With fifteen minutes left Barilla misses a left footed shot from outside the box. In the seventy ninth minute former Inter youth product Federico Dimarco lands a left footed shot to the top right corner as it splashes in the back of the net to give Parma the 1-0 lead. After the goal is where things fell apart for Inter. With two minutes left to play Politano tried to bring things back on even terms with a left footed shot from outside the box is blocked. Inglese minutes later takes a right footed shot is saved in the center of the goal. In the final seconds Inter would have one final chance to salvage a point as Perisic takes a misses a left footed shot from outside the box with that the match would end with Parma getting the three points.
This match was a heartbreaker Inter dominated the whole match in both possession and creating chances but woeful finishing cost them as Parma made them pay for it costing Inter crucial points. Tactically Spalletti did all he could they performed well opening chances and playing players in the areas where they needed to be. Handanovic is to blame on this one by leaving a whole area wide open which allowed Parma the opening they needed to score however no one was ever saving that wonder strike from Federico Dimarco. The man of the match is Perisic who did a great job assisting fellow players and creating chances. He also helped defensively where it was needed. This match overall was sad they could’ve easily gotten at least a point out of this but with one player slip up cost Inter any points. Hopefully Inter can come back from this rocky start of the season. Next week Inter take on RED HOT Sampdoria in Genova. The last time they faced off in March Inter won the match 5-0 however this Sampdoria team is no joke this season they could struggle again based on recent performance it may end up being a draw or worse. At this point maybe their horrid form would help wake them up and actually cause them to fight for something. Until the next one FORZA INTER.
