Inter vs Fiorentina match day preview #65

After their much needed win against Sampdoria Inter take on second place Fiorentina. Inter who have been struggling to get momentum look to get their third win in a row and look to move up in the table as they currently sit 7th in the table. They also are looking to work out the kinks that they’re struggling with. Fiorentina who are red hot especially after their beat down of SPAL look to continue their path of destruction by beating Inter at home. Fiorentina who usually a mid table team are showing fight and determination to still be on in the top three in the table. The last time Inter and Fiorentina faced each other they would hold each other to a draw as each sides grabbed a point a piece. This time could be different as Inter have been in poor form and it’s hard to know which Inter will show up and as Fiorentina are hungry for a Champions League spot where they haven’t been since the time Inter was in it the 2010 season. Here is what you can expect in this matchup.

Inter Milan

Inter player wise are slowly geling together as they got started late as some of their players were in the World Cup. Icardi Inter’s main goal scorer as been strugggling to find the back of the net. However players such as Brozovic, Perisic, Politano and several others have stepped up in light of this creating chances and scoring. Defensive players are hit and miss they either show up and do their job or they don’t even bother and cost Inter valuable points. Also the lack of squad depth have also cost Inter as they don’t have enough pieces to move players around and they also struggle utilizing player strengths. Injury wise Marinez and Vrsalijiko are still out until at least October. The key player for Inter in this match will be Brozovic who is great at scoring chances and assisting where needed. He also scores goals when it matters the most. If Fiorentina don’t shut him down it could cause them problems.

Fiorentina have a great lineup this year. They are a cohesive unit who work well together. Offensive players are doing a great job creating chances and doing what it takes to get the job done. Which as a team they communicate and work hard to get where they need to be. Their defensive players are strong and do a great job stealing the ball. Player wise Abdou is out for the unforseeable future with a unknown injury he sustained in the summer. The player to look out for Pjaca who is good at creating chances if Inter don’t shut him down there could be problems.

Bottom Line

The bottom line is if Inter can focus and continue to work together and get the job done. Fiorentina it will be if they can continue to keep their momentum going. Inter need to work on defending the ball and keeping the ball in Fiorentina’s half. Also it will come down if they can shut down Pjaca early on to not let him getting breathing room. For Fiorentina it’ll be to keep geling together and keeping the pressure on their opponents and keeping Brozovic in a box and not letting him move. In this match can go either way but if the bad Inter show up worst case scenerio a draw.
