After their draw against Roma Inter take on eight time Scudetto winners Juventus. The last time these two sides faced each other Juventus won the match 1-0 in what was a very back and forth match. Juventus have already won the Scudetto the only thing they can do is just add more points to their total. Inter are still looking to keep their spot in third place as Champions League spots are still up for grabs. A win for Inter in this match will not be easy but it is possible. Here is how these two sides stack up in a late Saturday night matchup.
Still out with injury is Brozovic and it is unsure of when he’ll return. In their match against Roma they played a defensive and offensive match. Defensive wise Skriniar and Devrij continue to prove why they work well together. But the weak link still remains to D’Ambrosio as he allows gaps which gives their opponents the chance to score which is why they should sell him instead of a contract extension which as been rumored. Defensive midfield wise Valero and Vecino together are a solid combo has of late which they’ve improved. They seem to take more chances than Brozovic as of late. Overall Perisic is hit and miss some matches he does ok but other matches he struggles to get any chances which is why it is rumored he may be sold as he’s lost his consistency ever since the world cup. Radja is the same when he’s healthy but he isn’t the player he was back at Roma getting loads of goals now he gets them once in awhile. This is sad as he was supposed to provide Inter with much needed depth. Politano is getting better as a player but there are a few things he needs to work on such as being a threat inside the box along with passing the ball. Forward position wise Martinez is a ok player but has a lot of work ahead as he grows to be a solid player but he is better than Icardi at the moment as he has no passion for the club anymore and hasn’t done anything substantial he ha one goal which was a penalty and one assist. The threat will be Skriniar as he is a strong defensive player he will do everything in his power to make sure Juventus don’t succeed by stealing the ball along with blocking their chances.
Juventus this season have been on straight up fire. They went undefeated for majority of the season. Defensive wise they have a solid fortress. They are impenetrable which for Inter will be a huge issue if they can’t get past them they will have a hard time scoring. Though their whole defense is solid there are a few key players that stand out. First is their main goal keeper Szczesny who is good at helping direct traffic along with saving goal chances. Their main goal chance blockers and who are also good at stealing the ball is Bonnuci, Chiellini and a player that Inter to this day still regret not signing after his loan was up Cancelo. But he has done a great job helping them to their eighth straight title. Midfield wise three of their top goal chance takers are Pjanic and Costa. Forward wise Ronaldo has fit right despite a slow start he finds himself with the most goals on the club with ninteen goals and will be the key threat in this matchup. But a few other players who are also forwards who will also make a impact are Kean and Bernardeschi. Dybala would normally be apart of this but he is out with injury along with Mandzukic, Perin, Caceres and Khedira.
The bottom line
The bottom line in this match will come down to Inter stopping Juventus chances with blocking them along with maintaining possession. Because most teams have weaknesses they can exploit. But Juventus are in a league of their own as they have no significant weaknesses which makes the work for Inter that much more difficult. This match might be another loss for Inter but the best case scenario for them will be a draw.
