After yet another dreaded international break Serie A action returns. Following their loss against Juventus Inter will be taking on their kryptonite Sassuolo whose match was postponed due to the loss of their owner passing away. I would like to take the time to send my thoughts and prayers to the club as they are still dealing with the loss. If it wasns’t for him Sassuolo wouldn’t be the club it is today. Sassuolo have been a club that over the seasons has given Inter major problems. They have won four out of their last six matches against Inter compared to their one win. Inter in this match will look to get back into the winners circle as they are in the hunt for the Scudetto as so far they look to be the only club who can potentially overthrow eight time winners Juventus. Sassuolo will look for a win after their match being postponed and to honor the memory of their owner. This is what you can expect when these two sides face off.
The players so far this season have been showing real improvements. But there are a few players who are out with injuries sustained on international break. The first is loanee Alexis Sanchez who will be out two to three months with an ankle break. The other is D’Ambrosio with a broken toe which will only be out two to three weeks. Defensive wise the key players in this area continue to be Skrinair and Devrij who are good at blocking chances along with stealing the ball. They also do a great job of assisting player chances as well. On the midfield Asomah continues to be a key anchor he mostly helps with assist which helps immensly. Sensi is a beast he is good at creating and finishing chances and is good at scoring goals as well. He is good defensively as well. Barella is showing little progress still needs to work on creating chances but assist wise he is improving. Forward wise Lukaku and Martinez continue to excecute in finishing chances. Due to his physicallity Lukaku will be the key player as he’s good at winning the ball in the air and is good at tackling the ball. If they don’t isolate him he will cause them issues in various aspects of the match.
The only player on Sassuolo who is on the injured list is Rogerio. Defensive wise they have a few good players who are good at stealing the ball, blocking chances along with helping set up counter attacks are Ferrari, Romanga, Chiriches. These players have been a key group that defensively has helped keep Sassuolo stay in the top flight for so long. Their midfielders who have contributed to being the issue for Inter and who are solid at assist and taking chances are Djuricic who is the top player in this area. The other players who are great in this area are Duncan and Traore. The forwards that will be the key threat are Defrel and Berardi who are the strongest in creating and finishing chances. They are good at setting up chances as well and defensive wise they are good at assisting in that area as well.
The bottom line
In this match Inter will more than likely stick with the 3-5-2 formation while Sassuolo will use the 4-3-3 formation. Inter in this match will need to continue to utilize finishing chances to their advantage as thi is an area they’ve improved massively on. They will also need to keep Sassuolo’s chances limited or non existant. They will need to control the match in Sassuolo side of the pitch along with maintaining possession of the ball. They will also need to break away fast on counter attacks to make sure they get limited time with the ball. Sassuolo on the other hand will need to do the same things but all while keeping Lukaku in check as he is a strong player and will look to cause them problems. This match based on history this should be another win for Sassuolo especially since they’re playing where Inter have yet to win on their home turf. But Inter look different especially under Conte so a win for them is a possibility. But based on everything Sassuolo should get the win.
