Mario Rigamonti
Brescia Italy

Following their draw against Parma Inter take on eighteenth place Brescia. They however are coming off a loss to Genoa. The last time these two sides faced each other was back in the 2010-11 season. The results of most their matches against each other have ended in draws with Inter getting two wins and Brescia getting one victory. In this match Inter will look to overtake Juventus as both sides are seperated by a point. Brescia on the other hand are looking to get out of the dreaded relegation zone. In this match Inter will need to work on better capitializing on their finished scoring chances. They have however done a better job creating chances unlike seasons past. Defensive wise they need to steal the ball along with creating strong counter attacks. They will also need to block Brescia’s chances as well. This match should be an Inter win as Brescia aren’t that strong of a side but anything can happen. In the first half both sides did a solid job creating chances and defending the ball. After the twenty minute mark Inter would go up 1-0 as Martinez finds the back of the net. The half ended with Inter up 1-0 on the home sides. In the second half both sides continued to create and finish chances but Lukaku finds the back of the net. But Brescia however would get a consolation goal gifted by a own goal from Skriniar but Inter held on for the 2-1 victory.

Inter as projected would stick with the 3-5-2 formation. In goal is Handanovic who is in the lead with two other keepers for the most clean sheets this season. On the defense is the dynamic duo of Milan Skriniar and Devrij. Capping them of the right is Godin these three together have been a cohesive defensive unit and are giving other clubs a run for their money. On the midfield on the left resuming his spot after some much needed rest is Asomah. Next to him is Barella who is showing signs of life and is becoming a valuable asset to the club. In the middle is Brozovic who should be getting some rest in this spot they should play Vecino but with limited options he is being played. Then on the right side is Gagliardini and Candreva who are showing life once again as they’ve struggled in the past few seasons. Up top is the on fire duo of Martinez and Lukaku these two have been isane with their speed and agility and winning the ball in the air. This is a solid lineup but they only player they need to be keeping an eye out for is Balotelli.

After final bets and preparations the players take their positions on the pitch and this match gets underway. In the first four minutes Lukaku lands a header after a cross from Barella from the center of the box but the ball goes to the left of the goal. At the twenty minute mark Godin following a set up cross from Candreva takes a header which goes over the crossbar. A few minutes later Balotelli gets a shot from outside the box blocked. A minute later the stalemate is broken as Martinez from outside the box lands the ball in the lower right corner. Massimiliano takes a shot from a tough spot on the left of the box and the ball goes to the left of the goal. So far both sides are doing a solid job creating chances and doing well defensively. After the thirty minute mark Devrij misses a header from the center of the box as the ball goes over the crossbar. Candreva minutes later misses a shot from outside the box as the ball goes to the left of the goal. With that the half would end with Inter up 1-0 if they maintain their momentum this match will be theirs for the taking.

Following the break this match resumes with Inter in the lead as the hunt for the Scudtto looms on. A minute in Brozovic takes a shot from outside the box but gets blocked. A minute later Massimiliano takes a header which is blocked from the center of the box. After the fifty fifth minute Balotelli gets a shot blocked from the center of the box. After the sixtieth minute Lukaku takes a shot from outside the box and the ball lands in the lower left corner of the goal making things 2-0. Balotelli in the same minute would take two amazing chances but the first is saved in the center of the goal while the other goes over the crossbar. In the seventy sixth minute Skriniar would score an own goal making things 2-1. With nine minutes to go in the match Inter finally makes their first substitution of the match as Biraghi comes on for Asaomah. Then shortly after they make their second with Esposito coming on for Lukaku. Balotelli in the stoppage time would have one final chance to secure a point with a shot from the center of the box but it gets blocked with that the match ends with Inter securing all three points and jumping them over Juventus temporarily as they play their match later tomorrow.

This result was to be expected if Skriniar didn’t score the own goal this would’ve been a perfect shutout but things happen. Both sides did a phenominal job creating chances. They also did a solid job defensively as well. Inter despite not having Sensi they did a great job. Barella is slowly becoming the midfield defender this club needs. The duo of Lukaku and Martinez have proven vital to the success of this club and both are the key players in this match. Inter in their next match take on Bologna whom Inter have had easy wins with. As always until the next one Forza Inter.
