After their loss against Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League Inter resume Serie A play against Hellas Verona. Verona are coming off a win against Brescia. Inter in league play beat their opponent Bologna. Inter have won four out of their last six matches against Verona while the other two results gave been a draw. These two sides haven’t faced each other since the 2017-18 season when Verona was promoted only to be sent back down but they were recently promoted at the end of last season. This season both sides are doing well with Inter one point behind Juventus while Verona with being brought back to Serie A are sitting comfortablely in ninth. In this match Inter will look to keep their position or jump Juventus in the standings while Verona look to move in the standings. Here is what to expect when these two sides face off.
The players out with injury in this match is Alexis Sanchez who is not due to return until mid January after he broke his ankle on October 13th. Also out is Asomah and Gagliardini and it is unsure then these two will resume action. Inter defensively have been one of the best in the league this season even keeping top clubs at bay. This comes from having a key group of defenders such as the duo of Skriniar and Devrij. But there are two other players who are good at being swapped out that’s Godin and Bastoni these players have done a excellent job keeping the ball in their opponents half of the pitch along with blocking that clubs chances as well. This is the defense the club as desperatly needed in hopes of overthrowing Juventus. In the midfield on the defensive side of things Sensi who is set to make his return will help bring back depth in this area though Barella has improved in this area. Brozovic and everyone has helped create and set up chances. This side needs to work on capitializing on those chances but up top is where the club as really shined that’s with the duo of Martinez and Lukaku between these two have a total of twelve goals so far. This duo is going to be the key threat if they don’t isolate one of these two they will create chance after chance and will more than likely score as a result.
Verona have a laundry list of injuries Bessa, Badu, Bocchetti, Tupta, Gunter, Kumbulla, Veloso and out on suspension are Crescenzi and Gaudio. This makes things much harder as they have a limited ammount of players to work with. On the defense their keeper Silvestri has done a great job helping Verona stay in the upper half of the table which the last season they were in Serie A they got sent back down in Serie B. The players that will help the club block chances and make sure Inter don’t gain an inch are Empereur, Vitale and Fararoni. Midfield wise Henderson, Lazovic are helping this club on the attack side of things with all the injuries are doing the best they can. The key player in this match will be the product of Inter is their forward Salcedo who is on loan and who will help Verona with crucial information on the club.
The bottom line
In this match is short and sweet Inter will need to keep up the momentum they’ve been having in all areas while Verona have the tough hill to climb. This match should be a easy win for Inter as they have a more full sqaud and based on overall history.
