Following their match against Slavia Prague in the Champions League take on relegation threatened Spal. Inter in their last Serie A match won 3-0 against Torino. Spal on the other hand are coming off a draw against Genoa. The last time these two sides faced each other Inter won the match 2-0. Over the past two seasons Inter have won three out of their last four matches against them the only other result was a draw. In this match both side have their reasons for winning this match. Spal in this match are looking for as many points as possible to dig themselves out of the relegation zone and to stay in the top flight for a fourth season. Inter on the other hand while waiting for Juventus to slip up are looking to stay hot on their heels as they are in the hunt for the Scudetto this season and are hoping to overthrow the dynasty of Juventus. Inter are proving that they’re no joke this campaign. Here is how these two sides stack up when these two sides play on a early Sunday morning match.
Captain wise Handanovic is a good leader for the club. He is good at giving the players directions and giving advice where needed. He is also reigning golden boot winner. Defensive wise this is the strongest defense the club as seen in the past few seasons. Skriniar and Devrij continue to be a strong cohesive unit in blocking chances and stealing the ball from their opponents. Godin is also being a valuable asset to the defense as well. Bastoni despite only having a few starts is starting to become a strong defensive player hopefully Conte plays him more to give him more room to devolop and get exposure. On the midfield side of things D’Ambrosio made his return to the starting eleven last week and he still is a player that is hit and miss performance wise. He has his good and bad days. Barella who is coming to life will be out for an undetermined ammount of time due to a leg injury sustained in their match against Torino. It is more than likely that Valero will play. Gagliardini and Candreva are doing well this season in way of creating and assisting chances. Brozovic and Asaomah are also blooming under conte’s leadership as well. These players have become stronger overall especially in creating chances on the counter attack. But where this club as shined is in their attack with the duo of Lukaku and Martinez who are the clubs goal scoring machines they have a total of sixteen goals combined. The threat in this match if not isolated will cause Spal’s attack issues that is Skriniar who will do everything in his power to make sure Spal doesn’t get the chance to score.
On Spal they have a solid goal keeper in Berisha who has a total of two clean sheets. On their defense Felipe, Vicari, Tomovic are some of the clubs best defenders. They are solid at defending the ball by stealing the ball and blocking opponents chances. They are also solid on setting counter attack situations by setting up chances. On the midfield Kurtic and Valoti are solid creating and assisting chances but Kurtic is solid at finishing chances as well. One of their best attackers Di Francesco is out with a thigh injury and will be out of this matchup. But they have another key striker who is strong leading the club with four goals is Petagna he is good at reading the pitch and finishing chances especially inside the box. Paloschi and Moncini are also good with assist. The key player in this match will be Petagna who will run circles around Inter if they’re not careful.
The bottom line
In this match despite a few players being out such as Sensi and Barella who is reported to have had a successful surgery on his sprained knee but it is unsure when he’ll return will have a few things to work on. They will need to first and foremost need to work on finishing and capitializing on goal chances They are solid at creating them but capitializing on them as been a hit and miss issue. But overall they have improved in this area over the past few seasons They will also need to continue winning arieal duals which is a area they were struggling with last campaign but with Lukaku and his height as helped with that issue. Defensive wise they need to just maintain their momentum in blocking the chances from Spal and also stealing the ball as well. Spal on the other hand will need to do all that but make sure they shut down Inter’s advances and with being in the relegation zone they will need to fight if they have any hopes of digging themselves out of it. This match should be an easy win for Inter based on their strength and past match history.
