Inter vs Bologna match day preview #254

After their massive win against Monchengladbach in the Champions League Inter take on Bologna. Bologna sit in tenth while Inter find themselves in second. Bologna look to continue their momentum after having a rocky start to the season. They started off near the relegation zone and looked for a time destined to stay there but they’re a team that knows how to adjust, adapt and make the needed changes for them to succeed which they’ve done as they moved up in the table. Inter were in the same boat as they were struggling to find a Champions League spot but now they’re moving on up and are looking more of a composed side. But it’s only been the past two matches we’ve seen this take place so as stated in recent articles and podcast I’m on consistancy is key. The last time these two sides faced each other back in July Bologna won the match 2-1. But overall Inter have the better record when facing Bologna.

In this match on the side of Inter expect to see Lukaku start unless they rest him before their match against Shaktar in the final group stage match of the Champions League. Lukaku has been proven to be one of the main players behind Inter’s success. He will also be the player that Bologna will need to shut down as he is fast and is able to get the ball into tight spaces. If they don’t stop him expect Lukaku to find the back of the net a few times in the match. In the midfield there is one player who has been the backbone of that area is Barella as he is one of the only consistant goal chance creators in that position. Defensive wise the main defender is Devrij who is versatile in different formations and is just a defender. Some of Inter’s other defenders tend to want to move the ball forward instead of staying in a defensive position which as cost Inter in recent matches. For Bologna defensvively their main man is Desilvestri who is good at blocking chances and is also solid at getting the ball away from their opponents. In the midfield they need to keep an eye on Svanberg. But the main threat is Orsolini who is one of their main goal scorers which should be easy for Inter to handle.

In this match it should be a win for Inter but then again these have been matches they should win but end up losing. For Inter this match comes down to if Inter can take the momentum they have and using it to their advantage. Second it will come down if everyone can continue working as a cohesive unit which has been seen the past two matches. Third it will come down if Conte can adapt if needed. For Bologna it will come down to if their defense can stop Inter’s advances. They will also need to be able to attack the goal often. Hopefully Inter can continue their momentum but we shall see.
